Therapy Intensives in New York, Iowa, & all PsyPact states

Unrushed time to dive deeper, explore further, and feel better faster

Is traditional therapy (50 mins) just not cutting it anymore?

  • Perhaps you’ve done therapy work in the past. You’ve learned the skills and tools but something is still holding you back.

  • You might be seeking deeper, more concentrated healing.

  • Maybe you don’t have the time to devote to weekly therapy sessions.

  • Or it seems like just when you are feeling and processing deeply during the session, time is up.

Intensives can help you accomplish in 1-2 days, what may take months in traditional therapy

Trauma-focused therapy intensives can help with…

  • Stress, anxiety, burnout

  • Depression, self-esteem, negative self-talk

  • Trauma related to abuse, neglect, or sexual assault

  • Childhood experiences and attachment wounds

  • Unresolved grief

  • Negative beliefs about yourself that leave you fearful of mistakes or feeling not enough

  • Needing specialized, short-term trauma work even if you have a regular therapist

  • Trying EMDR, IFS, or somatic work or knowing they work well for you if you’ve used one of those modalities before

  • Processing overstimulating/overwhelming experiences as a highly-sensitive or neurodivergent person

Therapy Intensives FAQs

  • Therapy intensives are extended 2-3 hour sessions which provide faster relief by offering concentrated time to do the healing work.

If you have done therapy in a 50- or 60-minute timeframe, you know that it can leave you hanging and wishing you had more time.

Weekly sessions usually begin with a check-in to find out any important updates from the previous meeting and end with time for closing and wrapping up.

This means that your actual time doing the deep work of healing is limited.

  • An intensive therapy session provides a solid 2- to 3-hour block of time dedicated to resolving a particular problem (without the starting, stopping, and wait in between that tends to break up and delay progress).

The highly focused structure allows for more thorough processing, increased integration, and much faster progress than the start-stop format of one-hour weekly sessions.

Intensives usually begin with a 2-hour preparation session one week and then a 3-hour intensive processing session within the following two weeks.

We will then monitor your progress and meet one week after your intensive.

You may have reached your goal and be done or you may wish to schedule another 3-hour intensive to maximize progress or begin working on a new goal.

  • Intensives help you feel better faster.

Everyone is different, but it is not uncommon for someone to achieve in 3 continuous hours what might normally take 1 month or longer.

Though upfront fees are higher, intensives save you time and, due to accelerated progress, save you money in the long run.

Intensives are good for people who travel frequently, who have inconsistent schedules, or who have a hard time taking time off work or arranging childcare for weekly therapy.

Intensives work well for people who do not want ongoing therapy but need targeted healing on specific issues.

  • The rate for intensives is $250/hour:

    2-hour preparation sessions are $500.

3-hour intensive processing sessions are $750.

Generally, clients opt for a 2-hour preparation session followed by an intensive 3-hour processing session 1-2 weeks later.

You have the flexibility to add additional 2- to 3-hour blocks as needed.

While some issues resolve with one intensive, others may require additional days.

  • I am not in-network with any insurance plans. However, your PPO plan may reimburse a portion of the fees. Please note that insurance plans require a diagnosis for possible reimbursement. Please connect with your insurance provider for more information.

  • Due to safety concerns and the short-term nature of intensive work, intensive programs with me are not appropriate if you:

currently experience suicidal ideation or self-harm

primarily wish to treat substance use or other addiction

primarily wish to treat an active eating disorder.
