Are You Highly Sensitive?
A highly sensitive person (HSP) is someone who experiences the world with heightened emotional sensitivity and responsiveness to sensory input such as noise, light, and other people's emotions. HSPs process information deeply and may be more easily overwhelmed by intense or chaotic environments compared to others. Around 15-20% of the population are considered highly-sensitive.
Does this sound like you?:
You have a rich inner life and vivid imagination
Easily overwhelmed and overstimulated by too much going on at once
Irritable & impatient with colleagues, friends, & family when you don’t have enough down time or solitude
Empathic, easily soaking up others’ emotions
Needing more time to process/digest information because you are careful and thorough in your analysis

Do Your Needs Feel Incompatible with Your Responsibilities?
There are so many wonderful things about being an HSP. However, the demands of modern society and the definitions of “normal” are often incompatible with the needs, desires, limitations, and values of highly-sensitive people.
Creating an environment and lifestyle that sets you up for success by limiting certain experiences, expectations, and situations while creating more space and opportunity for the uplifting, fulfilling scenarios, will create that alignment between who you are, what you want, what you need, and how you navigate the world so your struggles are minimized and your strengths are highlighted.
